Job Opportunity – Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), every other weekend required with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Contract lengths from 13 weeks up to February 27, 2027.

Highlights:

  • High-volume birthing unit with over 400-600 births per month and an average of 20 births in 24 hours
  • Patient ratio of 2:1 with approximately 30-40 admissions and 40 visits per day across 20 rooms
  • Fast-paced environment serving obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care
  • Electronic charting system (Epic) with Pyxis medication dispensing and SBAR communication protocols
  • 24-hour orientation provided; scrubs provided
  • May float to Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit as needed; no call requirement

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required; 3 years strongly preferred
  • Must have experience in high-volume settings with over 300 births per month
  • Proficiency in circulating for Cesarean sections and sterile vaginal exams
  • Competent in immediate newborn care and triage of obstetrical patients
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (or C-EFM), and Epic charting system experience
  • Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
  • Skills required: high-risk antepartum care, infant/neonatal arrest response, interpretation of dysrhythmias, OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Tests), isolation precautions, and pain assessment and management
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
