Job Summary
Join a dedicated team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery at a healthcare facility in Lamar, Colorado. This role focuses on providing comprehensive direct patient care to women throughout the entire childbirth continuum, from labor and delivery through the postpartum period, as well as direct care for newborns.
The L&D RN is integral to ensuring positive maternal and infant outcomes, performing assessments, monitoring labor progression, assisting with deliveries, and providing essential education and emotional support to new mothers and families. This position requires a commitment to high-quality, compassionate care in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor labor progression.
- Prepare patients and assist with C-sections and labor inductions.
- Administer direct nursing care during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
- Provide direct care to newborns, including initial assessments and ongoing monitoring.
- Educate patients and families on maternal and infant care, including breastfeeding and recovery.
- Prepare the delivery room and ensure all necessary equipment is available.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families throughout the birthing process.
- Coordinate patient transfers as needed.
- Administer IV medications safely and accurately.
- Adhere strictly to principles of infection control and OB department policies.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all nursing care provided.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program.
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required within one year of employment).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within one year of employment).
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Obstetrics (OB) care.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursing care essentials.
- Strong understanding and application of sterile technique and infection control principles.
- Skilled in the technical aspects of mother and infant care.
- Ability to perform effectively and maintain composure in highly stressful situations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
- Familiarity with obstetric equipment and technology.

- Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Days per Week: 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
