Job Summary
This role is for a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery at a facility located in Atlantic, Iowa. The primary focus will be on providing comprehensive, patient-centered care across the labor, delivery, postpartum, and recovery phases.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the obstetric team, ensuring the well-being of both mothers and newborns. Adaptability is key, as this position requires the ability to float to the Med-Surg unit to provide general medical-surgical nursing care when obstetric patient census is low, ensuring continuous and flexible patient support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care to patients throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum continuum.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition.
- Assist with deliveries and provide immediate newborn care, including initial assessments and stabilization.
- Educate new mothers on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care, promoting successful transitions home.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Float to the Med-Surg unit to provide general medical-surgical nursing care when obstetric patient census is low.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
