Description:
This role involves providing care in a Labor and Delivery unit.
The position may require floating between different areas within the facility.
Weekend shifts are required, with some weekends being mandatory.
The patient-to-nurse ratio on the unit is 1:2 for labor patients and 1:3 for antepartum patients.
Candidates should have experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, diabetes, and multiples.
Skills in the active management of laboring patients, induction, and augmentation are essential.
Knowledge of maternal emergencies is required.
The facility sees a monthly birth rate of 200-300 and handles high-risk antepartum cases.
The ideal candidate should be familiar with charting in Epic.
Experience with procedures such as establishing central lines, starting IVs, and administering various therapies is necessary.
The Registered Nurse will be expected to assist with high-risk deliveries and circulate for cesarean sections.
Candidates should also have experience in newborn assessments and postpartum care, including breastfeeding support.
This position may require working alongside interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services and rapid response teams.
Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in maternal and neonatal resuscitation and management of acute maternal and infant issues.
