Description:
High Risk Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse accountable for the assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.
Includes direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care in an acute patient setting.
Delivers holistic and individualized care to all patients in an assigned area.
Develops, implements, and coordinates a plan of care that incorporates psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships between patients, their family/support group, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communication.
Requirements:
Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications are required.
EKG testing will be required on-site, with a passing score of 80% or higher.
Weekend rotation is required.
Must have 2 years of experience in Obstetrics with no on-call requirements.
Skills Required:
Administration of blood and blood products.
Assisting with high-risk delivery and vaginal delivery.
Fundus, lochia, and perineum care.
Interpretation of dysrhythmias.
Labor and Delivery protocols, including use of external and internal fetal monitoring.
Newborn assessment and care including hypoglycemia management.
Management of postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension.
Use of infusion pumps and IV monitoring.
Pain assessment and management techniques.
Additional Unit Information:
A variety of inter-disciplinary support services are available.
Facilitates approximately 200-300 deliveries per month.
Must be equipped to handle high-risk antepartum and postpartum conditions.
