Description:
Position requires a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse.
The shift is nights for three 12-hour shifts per week.
The nurse will care for adult women of childbearing age.
There are 7 labor beds, 3 triage beds, 2 PACU, and 16 mother-baby rooms in the unit.
The patient ratio is 1:1.
Weekend work is required unless otherwise specified in the schedule.
In the event of low census, healthcare providers may be called off without charge or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to 1 shift's worth of hours in a 2-week cycle.
This position will involve the administration of medications and support during labor and delivery.
Responsibilities include assistance with high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, and postpartum care.
The nurse must support breastfeeding efforts and provide education to new parents.
Specific skills required include the ability to recognize and address abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and manage complications such as hemorrhage or hypertension.
The unit is supported by various interdisciplinary services, including respiratory therapy and social services.
