Description:
This position is for a travel Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery.
The birthing center has 29 beds and employs a staff of 20.
During day shifts, there is 1 charge nurse and 3-4 RNs.
Night shifts have 1 charge nurse and 2-3 RNs.
Patient ratios are 4-6:1.
Equipment includes Welch Allen vitals machines, CPN monitors, and POC glucose monitoring.
The Electronic Medical Record system utilized is Meditech and CPN.
Most frequently recruited skill set includes travel RNs, local CNAs, and sitters.
Preferred skills include OB experience, Med-surg experience, and GYN experience.
Typical procedures performed include post-operative gynecological surgeries, urogynecology surgeries, and management of ectopic pregnancies.
The unit also handles high-risk pregnancies requiring hospitalization, including conditions such as PPROM, Preeclampsia, and Previa.
Fetal monitoring and GYN oncology post-operative care are also part of the unit's responsibilities.
Women’s health med-surg and postpartum care for NICU moms or those readmitted for postpartum complications are priorities.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a preference for staying busy are ideal personality traits for candidates.
