Job Title: LDRP RN (Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE Must-Have: Experience in Labor and Delivery Description: Hiring process includes candidate interview with the clinical team. No unit manager involvement during the interview process. Candidates must submit a valid driver’s license. Orientation includes unit-specific training across two shifts. This unit has eight LDRP beds available for patient care. One operating room suite is available for C-sections. There are no triage beds on this unit. This unit handles approximately 35 deliveries each month. AWHONN guidelines for nurse-patient ratios are followed. Common diagnoses include low-risk patients over 36 weeks gestation. RNs are required to titrate drips such as oxytocin and occasionally magnesium sulfate. Charge nurses take assignments alongside their duties. One OB tech is assigned to each shift to assist nursing staff. An OB/neonatologist is not in-house 24/7. Anesthesia is available on the unit only if running an epidural. Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP and ventilators for infants awaiting transfer. RNs on this unit read their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors. Electronic fetal monitoring is done through an OBIX system. Self-scheduling is allowed for shifts. Weekend requirements include three full weekends over a six-week period. Holiday requirements include one full summer holiday and one full winter holiday. There is a call requirement with three on-call shifts in a six-week period. Floating to other units is rare but may occur as needed. The dress code includes blue scrubs that are provided. Unit-specific orientation is mandatory over two shifts. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts within a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
