Interviews will be conducted with the clinical team. Unit does not involve manager participation. Please submit a valid driver's license. Clinicians must be present for the week of orientation. The unit has 7 labor beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, 3 triage beds, and 11 postpartum beds. Births per month average around 15. The unit follows AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios. Labor ratio is 1:1-2 and postpartum is 1:3 for couplet care. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NRP. Common patient diagnoses include antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and triage. RNs are required to titrate drips, including oxytocin. Charge nurses take an assignment. There is 1 OB surgical tech on the unit per shift. No in-house neonatologist is available 24/7. Anesthesia is not in-house 24/7. There is no RT equipment such as vents or BiPap on the unit. RNs are required to read their own fetal strips. The electronic fetal monitoring system used is Obix. Self-scheduling and block scheduling are allowed. Weekend requirements include availability for 5 shifts in a 6-week period. Holiday requirements are as needed. In case of low census, RNs may be required to float to MedSurg. Floating typically involves assisting with aide work. Client scrubs will be provided. Cancellation policy allows hospitals to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. BSN is not required for this position. This is an acute care setting within nursing.
