Description:
Delivers care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in coordination with other health team members.
Effectively interacts with patients and other health team members while maintaining high standards of professional nursing.
Provides high-quality care to patient populations including adolescent and adult females as well as neonates.
While the traveler will not be part of a regular call rotation, they may occasionally be placed on call during periods of low census.
If called in, the traveler is expected to respond and arrive on-site within one hour.
The unit includes a 3-bed triage space and 12 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum rooms.
Nurses function in all capacities including labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, nursery, and NICU.
There is one OR on the unit for C-sections.
A group of midwives and OB/GYNs provides care, and pediatric hospitalists staff the nursery and NICU.
When census is low, staff may be utilized in the pediatric department, but they will not be the primary nurse.
Basic and intermediate fetal monitoring skills are required.
Travelers are required to go in on C-sections but are only responsible for the baby and will not scrub in.
The nursery is classified as Level 2.
STABLE certification is preferred but not required.
Follows established staffing guidelines for the unit.
