Description:
This is a Level IV Trauma Center with a comprehensive care approach.
The facility encompasses a Level III NICU and a Level III Perinatal Center.
It is classified as an Accreta Center of Excellence and an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center.
The hospital hosts teaching programs for trainees and residents.
There are approximately 280 deliveries per month on average.
The nursing staff will follow established staffing guidelines.
Patient ratios are 1:1-2 for active labor and 1:3 for antepartum.
Key responsibilities include fetal monitoring and maternal assessments.
The nurse will provide care for high-risk newborns and mothers post-delivery.
Cervical exams for labor progression and OB triage are also required.
The nurse will assist with procedures and be the primary nurse for vaginal deliveries.
The position requires the ability to circulate for C-section deliveries and provide postpartum care.
Support on the unit includes a charge nurse who assigns patients based on staffing.
Phlebotomy responsibilities will be shared with RNs.
The medical team includes respiratory therapists, supervisors, midwives, and anesthesia providers available 24/7.
Charting will be performed using a specified electronic system.
The work environment includes floating to postpartum and women’s care units as needed.
The scheduling process involves flexibility and availability to work across all days of the week.
Holidays could be assigned based on the start date, following an every-other holiday pattern.
The role may involve being called back in during low census periods.
Scrub color will be provided as part of the position requirements.
