Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: - High-risk obstetrics and triage experience - Operating room circulating and surgical admission/recovery experience Description: COVID vaccine is required. Unit has 11 labor and delivery beds and 7 antepartum/high-risk beds. There are 2 operating room suites and 3 triage beds. The unit includes 24 postpartum beds. The average number of births per year is 4000. Ratios are maintained to the best of our ability based on guidelines. Common diagnoses include preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, insulin-dependent diabetes, high BMI, multiple gestations, preterm labor, advanced maternal age, and substance use disorders. RNs are required to titrate drips, common ones being Pitocin and Insulin. Charge nurses are present on the unit. Certified nursing assistants and surgical techs are available on the unit. Obstetrics and neonatology services are available 24/7. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit advanced practice providers are available 24/7. Respiratory therapy equipment is available and includes vents, CPAP, and BiPAP. There are no telemetry techs on this unit, but RNs are responsible for reading strips. The electronic fetal monitoring system in use is Centricity Perinatal. Weekend work is required, as well as holiday work. There may be a call or standby requirement. Nurses are required to wear hospital scrubs. Unit-specific orientation is provided. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is done in EPIC.
