The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. Travelers must be more than 25 miles from the facility. Every third weekend is required. The patient ratio during the shift is typically 1:1. The unit is a level III OB unit that caters to high-risk obstetric patients. Common conditions include hypertension, diabetes, preeclampsia, and postpartum hemorrhage. Special procedures and equipment include nitrous oxide for pain relief and a high usage of epidurals. Flexibility to work holidays is required as needed by the facility. All travelers must complete required lab work and Livescan fingerprinting as per Minnesota state requirements. Documentation for vaccine exemptions is needed for those requesting it. Travelers should be prepared to manage a daily census of approximately 28 patients.
