Job Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of experience required License: Must have an in-state license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, FHM Must-Have: Call required: Yes, every 3rd weekend Local candidates not accepted Float required: Yes Description: The position is for a Labor and Delivery RN. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery. First-time travelers are accepted. The nurse will be responsible for labor, induction, scheduled and unscheduled C-sections, and the care of antenatal patients. They will work with triage patients and administer medication as needed. Experience with CADD epidural pumps, Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitoring, and radiant warmers is preferred. Nurses will follow staffing guidelines for patient ratios of 1:1 for active labor and 1:2 for non-active labor. In busy periods, nurses may have to take additional patients as needed. The patient age groups include neonates and adults. Daily census is 4 or more, with 11 rooms available for patients. Interdisciplinary support includes Physical Therapy, Radiology, and Social Services. The unit will handle various patient diagnoses related to labor and delivery. Nurses must demonstrate the ability to assess and manage patients effectively and safely. Floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals is required for all travelers.
