Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Birthing Center - Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Must-Have: Must have LDRP experience. Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections. Must have 2 years of experience. Description: Unit is focused on high-risk and low-risk childbirth. Average 170-190 births per month. In 2025, the unit recorded 2,104 deliveries. Ratios followed are 1:2 for Labor and Delivery and 1:3-4 for couplets. Experience with patients 32 weeks and above is essential. Common diagnoses include preeclampsia, diabetes, and psych/social issues. RNs are required to titrate drips, including magnesium, pitocin, and insulin. Charge nurses do not take an assignment. There is support with a surgical tech available 24/7. A patient care assistant has clerical duties on each shift. Client/hospitalist is available 24/7 for emergent cases. Neonatology professionals are also present in-house 24/7. Anesthesia services are available 24/7 in the unit. RT equipment, such as vents and CPAP, is also available. Electronic fetal monitoring system used is Centricity-perinatal. Block scheduling is provided upon request. Weekend requirements include working every other Saturday and Sunday. RN’s may need to float within the mother-baby unit but will not float to NICU. Scrubs are provided, and lockers are available. The unit offers specific orientation of 2-3 shifts. The manager fosters a supportive environment and offers constructive feedback. Flexibility and adaptability to workflows and policies are important.
