The role involves caring for patients pre, during, and post-delivery as well as nursery care. Our unit provides full spectrum Level 1 triage and maternity services. Nurses will work with patients who are 36 weeks gestation and above. The unit has dedicated Operating Rooms for Cesarean sections and is equipped with surgical support staff. Collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams is essential. Nurses will be responsible for recognizing and treating abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, among other critical tasks. Experience in circulating for C-sections, triage of obstetrical patients, and use of external and internal fetal monitoring is important. Baby-friendly protocols and sterile vaginal examination skills are required. Wound assessment and care knowledge is also necessary. A working knowledge of Epic charting system is desired.
