Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: - Experience in Labor and Delivery is required. - Experience in Postpartum/mother-baby care is preferred. - Current or recent high-risk OB experience in a Level II trauma facility is required. - Current or recent high-risk OB experience in a Level I trauma facility is highly preferred. - Experience in antepartum, C-section, and vaginal delivery is required. - Must have completed at least one travel assignment in the previous 12 months. License: - Active Iowa license or compact/multistate license is required. Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required. - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is required. - AWHONN certification is required. Must-Have: - Work history must include recent/current Labor and Delivery experience. - Skills checklist must be specific to Labor and Delivery. - Professional reference from a charge, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within 24 months is preferred. - Driver’s License is required. Description: This position involves providing nursing care in the Labor and Delivery specialty. Nurses will work with high-risk obstetric patients. The nurse-patient ratio is 1:1 to 1:2. The unit handles both C-sections and vaginal deliveries. Required drips include magnesium, insulin, and pitocin. The traveler will float across various campuses as needed. Employees are expected to be available for every third weekend. There is a requirement to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed. Intensive care for both mother and newborn will be part of the nursing responsibilities. Knowledge of electronic medical records, specifically EPIC, is required.
