Description:
This position encompasses responsibilities in Labor and Delivery with a focus on high-risk obstetrics.
Nurses will be assigned to care for laboring patients, triage, and postpartum patients.
The unit consists of 7 Labor and Delivery beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds, averaging 1-3 births per day.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:2.
Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians and a Health Unit Secretary.
Nurse managers occasionally attend to patients as needed.
Nurses may need to float to other units such as MedSurg during periods of low census.
Four-week scheduling includes a minimum of 3 weekend shifts.
Call is required one shift per four-week schedule.
A respiratory therapist is present in the unit 24/7 and a pharmacy is available on-site.
Candidates should have experience and skills that support the team's ability to manage OB emergencies effectively and demonstrate proficiency in couplet care.
Floating to other units, specifically MedSurg, may be required.
Clean files and all certifications will expedite the interview process.
Additional approvals for extensions occur weekly.
