Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery for a contract assignment in Pella, Iowa. This role involves providing comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to patients and their families within an acute care setting, focusing on optimal patient outcomes throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.

The successful candidate will collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating accountability and respect while promoting continuity of care. This position requires performing general nursing duties with critical thinking skills and the ability to assess and care for a diverse patient population, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide evidence-based patient care, ensuring safe and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Promote continuity of care through effective communication with the interdisciplinary team and patient families.
  • Direct and oversee the work of support staff in the provision of patient care.
  • Perform general nursing duties utilizing critical thinking skills with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct age-specific patient assessments for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Previous nursing experience in an acute care setting.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical and critical thinking skills for sound nursing judgment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices relevant to acute care.
