Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care License: Valid Compact license required Certifications: - AWHONN Intermediate - BLS - FHM - NRP - ACLS Must-Have: Experience in circulating for C-sections, starting and maintaining IVs, and patient assessments Description: Locals will be considered at the same rate. Previous permanent employees of any affiliated facility must be separated for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for this position. All facilities honor an active compact license. Candidates with at least 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care are encouraged to apply. Floating may be required as needed. Patient diagnoses include Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, OB Triage, Antepartum, and Normal Newborn care. Special procedures involve vaginal delivery, cesarean delivery, circulating in the operating room, and starting adult IVs. Skills in blood and blood product administration, management of drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and insulin and magnesium sulfate therapy are required. Experience with special equipment for high-risk antepartum and labor and delivery is preferred. The patient-to-nurse staffing ratio is between 1:1 and 1:3. All travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. References covering the past year are required during the compliance process. Candidates must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays during the contract period. Inflexibility regarding scheduling may lead to termination of the contract.
