**Job Description:**
- Position: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
- Shift: 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Location: 2 North, SAMC
- Call Requirements: None
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period
**Unit Highlights:**
- **Bed Capacity:**
- 12 Labor Delivery Recovery beds
- 5 Antepartum beds
- 4 Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED) beds
- 3 Operating Room (OR) rooms
- **Team Composition:**
- 72 dedicated staff members including nurses and surgical techs
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 2 CSTs, 1 scheduler
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 1 CST, 1 scheduler
- **Patient Ratios:**
- 1:2 ratio, transitioning to 1:1 based on patient acuity
- **Equipment Utilization:**
- Alaris Pumps
- CADD epidural pumps
- EMR systems: CPN and Meditech
- **Career Opportunities:**
- Permanent positions available on the unit
**Ideal Candidate Profile:**
- **Must-Have Qualifications:**
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in High-Risk OB
- Nurses with at least 3 years’ experience in High-Risk OB
- Current certification in Advanced EFM/AWHONN Intermediate EFM
- **Preferred Experience:**
- Background in High-Risk OB, including massive transfusions
- Familiarity with Placenta Accreta Spectrum Disorders (PASD)
**Procedures Performed on the Unit:**
- Cesarean sections (C-sections)
- Spontaneous vaginal deliveries (SVD)
- Dilation and curettage (D&C)
- Dilation and evacuation (D&E)
- Twin deliveries (both C-section and SVD)
- Scheduled and unscheduled emergent C-hysterectomy
- Management of massive transfusions
