Unit Notes:
- 12 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 4 triage beds, 16 postpartum beds
- 160–200 births per month
- Follows AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios
- Not an LDRP unit — rare floating to Mom/Baby required
- RNs circulate and perform their own C-sections; no titratable drips required
- Charge Nurse does not take an assignment (free to support unit)
- Surgical techs on unit (no nurse aides)
- OB/Neonatologist and Anesthesia in-house 24/7
- RT equipment available (vents, CPAP, BiPAP)
- No monitor techs — RNs must read their own strips; unit uses "Watch Child" fetal monitoring system
- Modified self-scheduling
- Scrub color: Royal blue
- Unit/department-specific orientation provided
