Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Valid Compact license must be in hand at submission Certifications: AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP Must-Have: Experience in high-risk obstetrics Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery. The nurse will float between units based on the needs of the facility. On-call availability is required if shifts are canceled. Weekend shifts are required every other week. The nurse will provide care for patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum. Expected patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:3 for couplets. Special requirements include experience in high-risk obstetrics. The nurse must be able to float to Postpartum and High-Risk Antepartum as needed. Additional skills include administration of blood products and assistance with high-risk deliveries. Proficiency in fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation is required. Floating to other units may be necessary based on skill sets. The facility has a total of 43 staffed beds and handles 200-300 births per month. Interdisciplinary support includes various services such as IV teams and social services. The nurse will participate in patient care for women of childbearing years and newborns. Documentation will be conducted using an electronic health record system. The nurse must effectively manage pain and participate in patient education. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. Refusal to float may impact assignment continuity.
