Strong patient assessment and management skills are necessary. Competency in handling high-risk antepartum patients is a plus. Ability to provide breastfeeding support and lactation support is desirable. Familiarity with the administration of medications, including magnesium sulfate and Pitocin, is required. Experience with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections is necessary. Must have the ability to recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns. Skills in triaging obstetrical patients are important. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential for quality patient care. Professional references from direct supervisors or managers will be required.
