Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of high-risk labor and delivery experience required. License: Active compact license required. Certifications: BLS, NRP required; ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate preferred. Must-Have: High-risk experience and ability to work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments. Description: The Registered Nurse will function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum. The unit is high risk/high volume with 31 beds and an average daily census of 15 patients. The nurse will be expected to provide newborn care, including administering Vitamin K and performing newborn assessments. High risk and various patient diagnoses include midwifery clients, adults in recovery services, and patients from community clinics. Experience with electronic fetal monitoring is necessary. The nurse will float as needed to postpartum and antepartum units and may float to other facilities within the health system. The schedule is posted every six weeks and must accommodate unit needs. Pre-approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The nurse will adhere to established patient ratios, staffing guidelines, and provide care in line with accepted standards. The position may require working every other weekend and holidays as necessary. Ability to float between units and facilities may be necessary to meet patient care needs. References are required covering recent experience. Travelers may be requested to assist in other units as needed. Refusal to float may impact assignment status and guaranteed hours.
