Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Labor and Delivery setting License: Active single-state license from a non-compact state, or active state or compact RN license Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Competency and experience in antepartum, intrapartum, and OBOR. Experience with any electronic charting system. Experience in High Risk Antepartum and Labor/Delivery. Description: Position for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery. The role requires experience with high-risk antepartum and labor/delivery. Responsibilities include assisting with sterile speculum exams, non-stress tests, reflex checks, and sterile vaginal exams. Triage of obstetrical patients is a key duty. Experience with external and internal fetal heart monitoring is expected. Knowledge of intrauterine pressure catheter placement and calibration is necessary. Candidate should be familiar with administering various medications, including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and pitocin. The unit maintains a patient ratio of 1:1-2 for laboring patients and 1:3-4 for antepartum patients. A triage area, operating rooms, and post-anesthesia beds are part of the unit's infrastructure. The average number of deliveries per month is approximately 250, with triage patients averaging 350. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams and pharmacy, is essential. Working one holiday during the contract period is required. Call is required with a variable amount, not exceeding 24 hours in a 6-week schedule block. Weekend coverage is expected, with a potential for every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block.
