Description:
Contract duration is for 26 weeks with a night shift schedule.
On-call requirement is 36 hours in a 6-week block.
The unit services Labor and Delivery, post-partum, antepartum, and a Level II nursery.
Level 2 inpatient obstetrical clientele are managed.
The role includes providing care for Level 2 NICU neonatal clientele.
GYN and medical overflow patients are also included.
Responsibilities encompass antepartum patients and observational triage patients.
Mother-baby couplet care is provided.
The unit handles border babies and other special patient needs.
Expected procedures include versions, induction of labor, cervical ripening, and bereavement care for IUFD.
Cesarean sections are also part of the responsibilities.
Staffing ratios vary:
- 1:1 for complicated or active labor
- 1:3 for stable antepartum patients
- 1:1 to 1:2 for unstable, ill antepartum patients
- 1:3 to 1:4 for couplet care
- 2:1 during delivery, with one provider for the baby and one for the mother
- 1:2 to 1:3 for NICU level 2, depending on condition
If floated outside of the specialty, assisting nurses with assigned patients using general nursing skills will be required.
