Description:
This position involves working in a combined unit that services Labor and Delivery, post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery.
Providers will care for Level 2 inpatient obstetrical clientele.
Responsibilities include caring for Level 2 NICU neonatal clientele and handling GYN/Medical overflow and antepartum patients.
Nurses will also manage observational triage patients and provide mother-baby couplet care.
The role requires performing procedures associated with obstetrics such as versions, induction of labor, cervical ripening, care for intrauterine fetal demise, and bereavement care.
Nurses may assist during Cesarean sections.
Staffing ratios include:
1:1 for complications or active labor.
1:3 for stable antepartum patients.
1:1-2 for unstable or ill antepartum patients.
1:3-4 for couplet care.
2:1 for deliveries, including one for mother and one for the baby.
1:2-3 for NICU Level 2 depending on the patient's condition.
If floated outside of specialty, nurses will assist with patients using general nursing skills.
The unit has interdisciplinary support from services such as Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, and Social Services.
Candidates should be a quick learner and adaptable to various situations within the nursing scope.
Compliance with unit policies, including expectations around holidays and schedule flexibility, is expected.
A zero-tolerance policy for THC is enforced, and medical marijuana cards are not accepted.
Fit testing is required, and a letter for exemption must be approved by Employee Health Services before arriving.
