Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation. Minimum of 2 years of experience is required to be comfortable working on this unit. It is preferred to have 3 years of experience. First-time travelers will be accepted but should have experience in a large, high-volume similar setting. Local candidates are accepted. The unit operates under high patient volumes with an average of 20 births in 24 hours. Patient ratios are 2:1. The unit handles high-risk obstetrical patients from 16 weeks and greater. The birthing care includes both scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births. There is no call requirement, but nurses may need to float as needed. Every other weekend is required, with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks. Unit is fast-paced and has higher acuity levels than typically expected. Experience with more than 300 facility births per month is required. Double labor assignments are common on this unit. The unit may require floating within the women's health continuum as necessary. Candidates must have skills in triaging obstetrical patients and in performing various assessments and procedures. All certifications must be current prior to starting.
