This position requires working three 12-hour night shifts. On-call duty for one shift per week is expected. The patient population includes females of childbearing years, pregnant individuals at 17 weeks gestation, laboring, and those scheduled for procedures such as C-sections and external cephalic versions. Triage issues are also a part of the responsibilities. The activity on the unit includes admissions, discharges, transfers, pre-operative care, and deliveries (both vaginal and C-section). Common equipment used in Labor and Delivery includes fetal monitors and electronic documentation systems.
