Job Summary

Join a dedicated nursing team in State College, Pennsylvania, specializing in Labor & Delivery. This role focuses on providing comprehensive nursing care to childbearing women, from adolescence to middle adulthood, neonates, and their families. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting patients through the childbirth journey and ensuring optimal health outcomes for both mothers and infants.

This position involves the full scope of the nursing process, including thorough assessment of patient and family needs, development and implementation of individualized care plans, and continuous evaluation of nursing interventions. You will work within a supportive environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic women's and children's services unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of childbearing women (adolescence to middle adulthood), neonates, and families, including health status, developmental level, and learning needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care based on identified physical and learning needs.
  • Perform initial assessment and stabilization of neonates.
  • Provide patient and family education on self-care, newborn care, women's health issues, and coping strategies for childbirth.
  • Identify and intervene with vulnerable patients and families at risk, providing support and collaborating with other healthcare disciplines for treatment and referrals.
  • Facilitate positive interaction and bonding between family members.
  • Promote a safe environment conducive to reproduction, growth, development, wellness, and recovery from illness.
  • Maintain professional knowledge, skills, and competency in the care of women and infants through ongoing learning and awareness of professional issues.
Required Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program.
  • Prior experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
