The unit consists of 30 RNs. Staffing on day shift includes 1 Charge Nurse, 2 LDR Nurses, and 1 Nursery Nurse. Night shift staffing includes 1 Charge Nurse, 2 LDR Nurses, and 1 Nursery Nurse. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 2 laboring patients to 1 RN. Equipment utilized includes GE monitoring, Novii Wireless, Spectrum IV Pumps, and CADD epidural PCA. EMR system in use is Meditech. Most recruited for positions are Travel RNs and local CNAs. The ideal candidate should have great communication skills and a friendly demeanor. Typical procedures performed include inductions, C/S, and SVD. The dress code requires OR scrubs. The unit has a culture of recognition, exemplified by winning an annual Holiday Hat Contest.
