Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS ACLS NRP AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: Candidates must possess the required certifications. Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Description: This unit has a total of 35 beds and is staffed by 160 personnel. On day shift, there are 2 charge nurses, 24 RNs, 5 surgical techs, 1 OR aide, 1 transport tech, 1 secretary, and 1 scheduler. Night shift consists of 2 charge nurses, 21 RNs, 4 surgical techs, 1 OR aide, 1 secretary. Patient ratios are 1:1 or 2:1 for laboring patients, and 2:1 for APU and PACU. The unit is equipped with Hill-Rom birthing beds, Alaris IV pumps, GE core metrics, Panda warmers, CADD Solis epidural pumps, and NOVI wireless fetal monitoring. EMR system utilized is CPN (Centricity) and Meditech. Typical procedures performed include vaginal delivery, cesarean sections, PACU recovery, and antepartum care/testing. Continuous electronic fetal monitoring is a standard practice on the unit. Dress code requires scrubs in royal blue. Protocols are in place for Pitocin and cervical ripening, as well as magnesium sulfate, hydralazine, and labetalol. Additional enticing aspects of the unit include a 13-bed maternal assessment center for the triage of pregnant patients and 24/7 ancillary services including anesthesia, neonatal care, laborist, and hospitalist support.
