Provides routine and complex care with the ability to plan for long-range goals. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. In accordance with the Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families based on their level of practice. Utilizes appropriate protocols to administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers. Identifies issues and resources as needed. All newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member. Initial onboarding requirements will be validated through successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation and specific competency validation. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary. Experience in a perinatal setting is preferred.
