Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 Years License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP Must-Have: Community Hospital Experience Preferred Description: RN/Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum. Shift: 3 x 12 hours, Nights from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Ratios: 1:1 to 3 patients. 3 years of experience required with community hospital experience preferred. First-time travelers not accepted. Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit. Weekend rotation: 4-6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) and 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule. Holiday requirements: 1 major holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas) and 1-2 minor holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day). Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, with AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate preferred. Required skills include IV therapy and phlebotomy, including administration of blood and blood products, drawing venous blood, and starting and maintaining peripheral IVs. Labor and Delivery Management skills include amnioinfusion, assisting with vaginal delivery, circulating for C-sections, and hemorrhage management. Neonatal care in the delivery room includes collecting cord samples and newborn assessments. Postpartum care includes breastfeeding support, episiotomy care, and discharge teaching. Expected to care for all patient assignments within the unit, including triage, C-section cases, and postpartum care. Regular floating may occur between departments and units as needed. On-call requirement: 2 mandatory on-call shifts each 6-week schedule. Work settings include Antepartum, LDRP, and Level I Nursery. Patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, and adults. Daily census is approximately 10. Preferred skills include high-risk delivery assistance and scrub for C-section experience. Special procedures include vaginal births, C-sections, postoperative gynecology care, and antepartum testing.
