Job Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 6 months Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: 2 years required License: Required Certifications: ACLS (Required) AWHONN Advanced (Preferred) AWHONN Beginner (Required) AWHONN Intermediate (Preferred) BLS (Required) NRP (Required) Must-Have: Previous charge experience (Preferred) Travel experience (Required) Description: This position is for a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse. The role requires experience in caring for patients from neonates to adults. Weekend coverage is required every other week. The unit consists of 15 beds and follows inpatient rooming with infants. All infants will be in rooms with mothers. A newborn nursery will be available for infants requiring additional care. The nurse must be proficient in using the Omnicell medication system. Communication among staff will utilize SBAR. The nurse will assist with various procedures, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. Skills required include pain management, postpartum hemorrhage management, and neonatal assessment. The nurse should be capable of performing IV starts, sterile vaginal exams, and assisting with circumcisions. Knowledge of fetal monitoring is essential. Additional competencies include breastfeeding support and patient education on discharge instructions. The nurse will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care. The patient-to-nurse ratio and specific patient assignment details will vary. This role is vital to providing safe and effective care in the Labor and Delivery setting.
