- Charge experience is required.
- Experience in labor and delivery, including the ability to labor and recover the mother, as well as receive and transition the newborn, including assessment.
- Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other potential obstetrics emergencies preferred.
Description:
This is a Labor & Delivery unit requiring advanced skills in fetal monitoring.
Experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil) is necessary.
Procedures performed on the unit include C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, and vacuum or forceps-assisted deliveries.
Patient ratios are 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections.
Couplet care is at a ratio of 1:3, with newborn care at 1:1 until stable.
The unit maintains a NICU with a ratio of 1:3 for intermediate care.
Two NICU nurses are required in the unit if there are patients.
The unit has no techs or unit secretaries.
Type of equipment used includes central monitoring systems, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robots for neonatologists, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps.
The documentation system utilized is Meditech and Central Patient Network.
Scheduling requires full-time commitment, with three shifts per week and rotating weekends and holidays.
Staff may be required to float within the facility as needed.
Patient experience includes daily rounding for safety and patient assessment.
The unit supports continual learning and growth with seasoned staff, providing a collaborative team environment.
