Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Job Summary
Join our dedicated nursing team as a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery at a facility in Lancaster, Ohio. This role involves providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to expectant mothers, new parents, and their newborns throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
The successful candidate will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care, ensuring adherence to established policies and guidelines. This position requires a compassionate and skilled professional capable of managing dynamic clinical situations and collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for each patient using the nursing process.
- Provide high-quality, individualized care based on patient needs and established care plans.
- Educate patients and their families/significant others from admission through the discharge process.
- Maintain thorough, concise, accurate, and legible documentation of the nursing process and patient care.
- Notify physicians promptly of pertinent observations and changes in patient status.
- Administer medications and perform treatments accurately and safely.
- Implement physician orders as written and ensure compliance.
- Ensure equipment and supplies are readily available for patient care and report malfunctions to the appropriate department.
- Supervise and direct co-workers and delegate appropriate tasks in the implementation of care.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Current Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Previous experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in Labor & Delivery.
Skills & Competencies
- Clinical Skills: Proficient in the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation), medication administration, treatment protocols, patient education, and accurate documentation.
- Technical Skills: Competency in utilizing electronic health records (EHR) and standard medical equipment.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, ability to manage multiple priorities, independent decision-making, empathy, integrity, teamwork, keen observation, and accurate reporting. Ability to remain calm and effective in urgent situations.
