The nurse will be required to be on call for 36 hours in a 6-week block. The unit serves a combined population in Labor and Delivery, post-partum care, antepartum, and Level II nursery. Responsibilities will include care for Level 2 inpatient obstetrical clients and Level 2 NICU neonatal clientele. Nurses will manage GYN/Medical overflow as well as antepartum patients and observational triage patients. The focus is on Mother Baby Couplet Care and the care of border babies. Procedures related to obstetrics will be performed, including versions, induction of labor, cervical ripening, intrauterine fetal demise care, and bereavement support. The nurse may assist in Cesarean sections as needed.
