Description:
This position involves working the night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM.
The nurse will be required to be on call for 36 hours in a 6-week block.
The unit serves a combined population in Labor and Delivery, post-partum care, antepartum, and Level II nursery.
Responsibilities will include care for Level 2 inpatient obstetrical clients and Level 2 NICU neonatal clientele.
Nurses will manage GYN/Medical overflow as well as antepartum patients and observational triage patients.
The focus is on Mother Baby Couplet Care and the care of border babies.
Procedures related to obstetrics will be performed, including versions, induction of labor, cervical ripening, intrauterine fetal demise care, and bereavement support.
The nurse may assist in Cesarean sections as needed.
Staffing ratios are as follows:
1:1 for complications or active labor
1:3 for stable antepartum patients
1:1-2 for unstable, ill antepartum patients
1:3/4 for couplet care
2:1 for deliveries (one for the baby, one for the mother)
1:2-3 for NICU Level 2 patients depending on condition
If floated outside of specialty, the nurse will assist with general nursing skills.
The unit provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy.
This job requires working collaboratively with a team to provide high-quality patient care.
