Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Combined unit servicing L&D (vaginal & cesarean), post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
  • Level II inpatient obstetrical and neonatal patient population, including GYN/medical overflow and antepartum patients
  • Handles observational triage patients, Mother Baby Couplet Care, and border babies
  • Performs obstetric procedures including versions, IOL, cervical ripening, IUFD care, bereavement support, and OR cesarean sections
  • Staffing ratios vary by acuity: 1:1 for complications or active labor, 1:3 for stable antepartum, 1:1-2 for unstable antepartum, 1:3-4 for couplet care, 2:1 for delivery, and 1:2-3 for Level II NICU
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
  • On-call requirement of 36 hours within a 6-week block
  • May float outside specialty to assist other nurses using general nursing skills as helping hands

Requirements

  • Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
  • Charting system experience required (any EMR)
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skilled in Pitocin (oxytocin) administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience in labor and delivery management, C-section recovery, and antepartum care and procedures
  • Skilled in obstetrical patient triage
  • bCPAP skill preferred

Additional Information

  • Candidates who previously worked in a permanent role at this facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
  • Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
  • If one holiday falls within the assignment, expect to work it; if two holidays, expect to work one; if three holidays, expect to work two
  • Zero-tolerance drug policy for THC, and medical marijuana cards are not accepted
  • Drug screening required during compliance process and again on day one
  • Fit testing is required, and candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing unless an approved medical exemption is obtained prior to starting
  • First-time travelers will be considered only if they have 2 years of L&D experience
