Description:
The unit has 2 triage rooms, 10 labor rooms, and 2 operating rooms.
There are 16 PRN staff members, 22 full-time staff members, and 17 clinical/laboratory staff.
The day shift includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 6 RNs, 1 scrub tech, and 1 secretary.
The night shift includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 5 RNs, 1 scrub, and 1 secretary.
Patient ratios are 1:1 or 2:1, depending on acuity.
Equipment includes fetal monitors, intrauterine pressure catheters, fetal scalp electrodes, fluid warmers, IV pumps, and epidural pumps.
The electronic medical record system used is CPN and Meditech.
Candidates must be organized, have great time management skills, and possess empathy, care, and compassion.
Typical procedures performed include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, amniocentesis, amnioinfusions, and IUPC/FSE placement.
This is a closed unit with rotation every other weekend.
There may also be possible circulator call responsibilities.
