Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: Drive to provide the highest quality of care to laboring patients. Ability to support patient choice and promote vaginal birth opportunities specific to patient preference. Description: The unit has 9 labor and delivery beds, 3 swing rooms, and 2 operating rooms. Patient ratios are 1:2. There are unit secretaries and scrub tech availability. A dedicated CRNA and midwife are in-house 24/7, with Client on call. The documentation systems used are CPN and Meditech. Staffing requires 4 weekend shifts per month. Floating policy allows staff to float to other departments or tasks as needed. The goal is to maintain patient experience metrics above 75%. Required certifications include RN, ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring. The dress code includes hot pink and black uniforms, with a preference for hot pink tops. Advanced skills that are helpful include knowledge of spinning babies and the STABLE program. Procedures performed in the unit include circulating in OR, IUPC, FSE, MgSO4, and managing postpartum hemorrhage using the JADA system and nitrous oxide. The unit has received recognition as an HCA Unit of Distinction in 2021. This is a pilot hospital for NTSV and Team Birth initiatives. The unit uses a laborist team model, with 24/7 midwives and dedicated CRNA and Client on call. Personalized birthing experiences are prioritized according to patient desires and needs. Couplet care is provided in the postpartum unit to ensure newborns remain at the bedside and promote breastfeeding. Donor milk availability is offered when needed. There is an 8-bed Level 2 NICU with a dedicated NNP available 24/7. NNP services are available for all high-risk deliveries.
