Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of RN experience
Active CA RN License
BLS, ACLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN)
COVID vaccination required
Must be comfortable with low-risk and high-risk deliveries
Proctored Dysrhythmia Test on Day 1 (Pass/Fail)
Patient Population:
Low-risk and high-risk labor and deliveries
Postpartum patients and couplet care
Newborns
Pediatric patients
NICU feeders and growers (only if previously experienced)
Babies with congenital defects requiring immediate surgery are transferred out
Unit Details:
12 L&D beds
19 Postpartum beds
2 OR suites
1 PACU
Level III NICU
Laborist/OB physician in-house 24/7
OB Techs available; no nurse aides
No telemetry
Phillips fetal monitoring system
RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
Clinical Skills:
Labor and delivery management
High-risk obstetric care
Fetal heart monitoring
Postpartum and couplet care
C-section circulation experience is helpful but not required; staff are available to circulate
Scheduling & Floating:
Every other weekend / 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Travelers are first to float
May float to Pediatrics for postpartum/couplet patients
May float to NICU for feeders and growers only if experienced
3 shifts of unit orientation if able to circulate; otherwise 2 shifts
Holiday rotation with permanent staff
Additional Notes:
Hospital-provided scrubs
Shift starts at 6:45
Must be comfortable caring for both low-risk and high-risk deliveries.
