Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in a hospital setting located in a community hospital. This role involves managing patients experiencing labor and preterm labor, attending high-risk deliveries, and providing specialized obstetric care. The position offers flexibility with contract length and holiday requests, with a focus on collaboration and patient safety.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, 12 hours shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid Compact license, 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, experience with Epic electronic charting system, certifications including BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate; ACLS preferred, minimum 0 years of experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with high-risk obstetrics, ability to assist in GYN surgeries, and manage special procedures such as blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, and epidural/ PCA pumps
- Clinical Responsibilities: Attending all deliveries including high-risk cases, providing postpartum and antepartum care, managing special procedures such as blood product administration, epidurals, and medication infusions, utilizing specialized equipment like Wound VAC and electronic fetal monitors
- Unit Details: 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms, with specific roles in labor support, post-op, and postpartum care. Staffing ratio of 1:1-3 depending on case. May include floating to postpartum units based on skill set.
- Additional Information: Must be flexible to work scheduled holidays, with up to 2 major holidays off requested during submittal. Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities nearby. Compliance with specific background policies and references are necessary prior to assignment.
