Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in a high-risk, high-volume department located in a healthcare facility. The role involves functioning as a Baby Nurse during deliveries and providing continued care to newborns until transfer to postpartum, supporting maternal and neonatal health in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Job Details:
- Certifications: Required: BLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced certifications.
- Education & Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery, with high-risk experience preferred. Candidates must have an active compact license in hand at the time of submission.
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, posted every 6 weeks, with a minimum of 48 hours per week, including working every other weekend and holidays as needed.
- Special Skills & Requirements: Experience with electronic fetal monitoring (EPIC electronic fetal monitoring system valued), high-risk deliveries, and neonatal care including administering eye and Vit K injections, newborn assessments, and performing assessments and interventions such as circulation, eye care, and identification. Must circulate for cesarean sections and assist with vaginal deliveries.
- Floating: Float to sister facilities supporting maternal/neonatal units and other related departments that follow AWHONN guidelines. Floating to NICU, Antepartum, Postpartum, or other units may be required occasionally.
- Additional Information: Candidates should have experience with high-risk obstetrics, be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, and meet unit-specific requirements such as assisting with high-risk deliveries, performing neonatal assessments, and supporting postpartum care.
- Submission Requirements: Candidates must include answers regarding previous employment at a Providence facility, along with two references covering at least one year within the last three years.
