Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – 12-Hour Nights in Tacoma, WA

Travel Nursing Job Details

- Healthcare Setting: Birth Center with labor, antepartum, obstetric emergency, and operating room services
- Location: Tacoma, Washington
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,580–$2,720
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Contract Duration: 15 weeks, ending February 13, 2027
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights, typically 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Schedule: Approximately four shifts per week based on 48 guaranteed hours
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend, with scheduling flexibility based on unit needs
- Call Requirement: No mandatory call
- Orientation: Hospital and unit orientation, including approximately two weeks with a preceptor and one week working independently
Labor & Delivery RN Qualifications
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience; 5 or more years is preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers may be considered based on clinical experience
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington State
- Current BLS certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification through AWHONN
- Recent experience managing high-acuity obstetric patients, including preterm labor, hypertension, magnesium therapy, inductions, epidurals, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage
- Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and obstetric triage skills
- EPIC experience is required
- Ability to circulate in the operating room, perform cervical examinations, and support newborn transition and recovery
Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients according to evidence-based standards and AWHONN guidelines
- Manage high-risk labor and delivery patients, including those requiring magnesium administration, insulin protocols, epidural support, and close fetal or maternal monitoring
- Perform obstetric triage and promptly identify changes in maternal or fetal condition
- Monitor, interpret, and respond appropriately to fetal heart rate patterns and other fetal surveillance findings
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean births, inductions, preterm labor, and high-risk obstetric emergencies
- Circulate in the operating room and support the safe care of patients undergoing cesarean delivery
- Receive and recover newborns as needed, including supporting initial assessments and Apgar assignments when staffing permits
- Provide care based on patient acuity, including typical ratios of 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active labor, and 1:2–3 for antepartum patients
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, laborists, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, nursery staff, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Float within the scope of experience to antepartum and, occasionally, postpartum assignments
