Overview

This Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse role is ideal for a confident, adaptable RN who thrives in an acute care setting and enjoys providing compassionate, expert-level obstetric care. You’ll be part of a high-volume labor and delivery unit that manages labor support, OB triage, delivery, OR circulation, and postpartum transition for both mother and newborn.

• Position: Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
• Setting: Birth Center / Labor & Delivery
• Location: Tacoma, WA 98405
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts
• Shifts per week: 4 x 12-hour shifts
• Weekly Hours: 48 hours per week guaranteed
• Contract Length: 15 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,580–$2,720
• Start Date: October 5, 2026
• End Date: January 16, 2027
• Unit Type: High-acuity Labor & Delivery / Birth Center
• Schedule Notes: Every-other-weekend rotation, with holiday coverage as needed

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• High-acuity OB experience strongly preferred
• Experience with labor management, delivery care, and triage of obstetric patients
• Ability to circulate in the OR and assist with C-sections
• Skilled in cervical checks and interpreting fetal monitoring strips
• Experience recovering birthing patients and newborns after vaginal and surgical deliveries
• Current BLS certification
• NRP certification
• Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring certification (AWHONN)
• EPIC experience required
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate care to laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients
• Manage high-acuity obstetric cases including hypertension, magnesium administration, preterm labor, inductions, and postpartum hemorrhage
• Support vaginal deliveries and C-sections, including recovery of mother and baby
• Perform OB triage, fetal monitoring, and thorough patient assessments
• Assist in the OR and support newborn transition when needed
• Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, and unit support staff
• Deliver care in accordance with AWHONN patient ratio guidelines and unit protocols
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and uphold unit standards for quality and safety
