Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring active CA RN licensure and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within an acute care facility featuring a Level III NICU and county-designated trauma center
• Provides nursing care during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including emergencies and circulating for C-sections
• Night shift 1900-0730, 36 hours per week
• Schedule is based on unit needs with no block scheduling
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Minimum two years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course required
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or AWHONN certification required
• EPIC EMR experience required

Additional Information

• Performs physical and psychosocial assessments considering age, cultural differences, and support for fetal demise
• Initiates multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
• Manages perinatal emergencies including crash C-section, precipitous delivery, and shoulder dystocia
• Assesses fetal and maternal well-being, amniotic fluid status, and vaginal bleeding, recognizing and managing abnormalities
• Manages labor pain control, including alternative pain control methods
• Assists with epidural catheter placement and monitors fetal and maternal status during and after medication administration
• Educates patients and families throughout all stages of the perinatal period
• Supervises and delegates care to ancillary personnel according to scope of practice
• Position is represented by CNA
