Shift: Night Shift | 6:30 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn patients. The RN must be experienced in high-risk obstetrics, fetal monitoring, C-section procedures, and maternal-newborn care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to low- and high-risk laboring and antepartum patients.
- Monitor fetal heart rates and recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, and emergency obstetric situations.
- Circulate, scrub, and recover C-section patients.
- Manage obstetric emergencies, including hemorrhage, shock, preterm labor, and pre-eclampsia.
- Perform OB triage, NSTs, amnioinfusion, and other obstetric procedures.
- Provide postpartum care, including fundus, lochia, perineal, and wound assessments.
- Support breastfeeding, lactation education, newborn assessment, and neonatal resuscitation.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and epidural-related care within scope.
- Float to Antepartum, Labor & Delivery PACU, and Postpartum units as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
- Active New Jersey or Compact RN license. Pending NJ license accepted.
- Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and FHM certifications required.
- Epic charting experience required.
- Must have C-section circulating experience.
- Strong experience in high-risk antepartum and labor and delivery care.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
Clinical Skills
- High-risk antepartum and labor management.
- External and internal fetal monitoring.
- C-section circulating, scrubbing, and recovery.
- Forceps and vacuum-assisted deliveries.
- Amnioinfusion, NST, OCT, and IUPC placement.
- Pitocin, insulin drips, antihypertensives, and other obstetric medications.
- Postpartum hemorrhage and pre-eclampsia management.
- Neonatal resuscitation, APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, and thermoregulation.
- Mother-Baby and couplet care.
Schedule & Unit Details
- Patient ratio: 1:1–2.
- Every other weekend required.
- Floating required to Antepartum, L&D, L&D PACU, and Postpartum within the nurse’s skill set.
- 12 hours of orientation listed; additional facility modules are non-billable.
- Hospital-provided scrubs.
- Facility may call off one shift every two weeks.
- Must work or provide on-call coverage for winter holidays as required.
