Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Mauston, Wisconsin

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Healthcare Setting: Labor & Delivery with cross-training support for Med-Surg and EICU patients as needed
  • Nursing Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m., with weekend rotation

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Requirements

  • At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery or Obstetrics nursing experience
  • Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 1 month of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) certification within 1 year of hire
  • STABLE certification within 1 year of hire
  • Intermediate fetal monitoring certification within 1 year of hire
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, accuracy, and attention to detail

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns.
  • Complete nursing histories, assess patient conditions, and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Triage patients based on presenting symptoms and clinical needs.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately.
  • Assess labor progression and manage inductions and cervical ripening.
  • Perform and accurately interpret fetal heart monitoring.
  • Recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies, including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, meconium, placental abruption, and placenta previa.
  • Monitor and manage pregnancy-related conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
  • Assess newborns and identify conditions requiring increased surveillance or a higher level of care.
  • Perform neonatal resuscitation within the scope of practice and current certification.
  • Recognize and manage signs of neonatal sepsis, hypoglycemia, hypothermia, jaundice, and other adverse events.
  • Educate patients and families and encourage active participation in newborn care.
  • Communicate changes in patient status promptly to providers and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Cross-train and provide care for Med-Surg and EICU patients when needed.
